Overview: Internal Communications strategist for 1898 & Co. brand
Responsibilities: The Communications Strategist for 1898 & Co. is responsible for enriching Burns & McDonnell communication strategies through creating, preserving and promoting our strong employee ownership culture. The Communications Strategist is a resource in all things related to enhancing internal communications, communication strategies and the internal brand identity within 1898 & Co. and from 1898 & Co. to the company.
Supports 1898 & Co. leadership communications, including global practice meetings.
Manages the publication process of 1898 & Co. newsletter and all other internal 1898 & Co. publications, the 1898 & Co. intranet and 1898 & Co. enterprise social network platform.
Manages change management communications.
Writes, reviews and edits 1898 & Co. presentations.
Monitors and verifies benchmarks during the production process for companywide announcements including celebratory and all other videos.
Leads 1898 & Co. internal communications campaigns and manages signage requests.
Partners with other departments, providing content and guidance for internal communication-related activities.
Analyzes data of internal communication campaigns and provides feedback on suggested changes, areas for improvement and successes.
Provide resources for internal communications and campaigns for 1898 & Co. needs.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related degree. 4 years' relevant experience required. Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint, Viva Engage and Viva Topics. Excellent written and verbal skills. Strong organization skills and the ability to efficiently prioritize workload. Proven leadership experience is preferred. Experience working with professional services industry is preferred. Expert creative or technical writing experience. Demonstrated ability to develop creative and innovative internal communications strategies. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and provide excellent client service. Experience in AP Style preferred. Experience in planning, shooting and editing videos preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly present complex information to a variety of media channels and range in audience.

Overview: The Senior External Communications Manager will help lead UMB’s external communications strategy and function to strengthen brand reputation, amplify thought leadership, and engage key stakeholders across media, industry, and external community channels. This role is responsible for developing and executing integrated external communications plans that align with business objectives and position UMB as a trusted financial services leader. This role partners closely with other corporate communication team members, marketing, regional leadership and others to deliver impactful, timely, and narrative-driven communication.
Responsibilities: Develop, execute, and oversee strategic external communication plans to support the following areas’ priorities and goals: Institutional Banking, Consumer, Private Wealth Management and Employer Brand.
Serve as a strategic communication advisor to internal stakeholders, including executives, across the organization
Able to distill complex information and topics into actionable and audience-appropriate materials
Monitor industry news and collaborate with internal and agency partners to proactively identify media opportunities and potential risks.
Oversee and execute earned and owned media strategies
Prep spokespeople for media interactions, including messaging development
Provide media training to new spokespeople
Build and maintain relationships with regional and national reporters
Direct thought leadership, editorial, and targeted placement in local, regional and trade media
Write compelling content across a variety of media and business subjects, including pitches, press releases, talking points, guest columns, blog posts, award nominations, video scripts, and more
Fully manage and oversee the production of UMB’s annual ESG and Corporate Citizenship report.
Manage communication/PR agency and other vendors, freelancers, and consultants as needed
Prioritize to remain focused on goals and strategic plan execution
Able to solve complex problems under tight deadlines
Plan and track complex projects while juggling competing priorities and adapting when needs change unexpectedly
Serve as a crisis communication team member on an as-needed basis
Analyze, measure and report on output to validate overall approach, assess value, capture ROI (when possible), etc.

Overview: 32101BR Assistant/Associate Professor of the Practice Sports Media & SocietyJournalism Position Overview The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas seeks an engaged, dynamic, and experienced broadcast sports journalist or sports marketing specialist to join its faculty. The Sports Media & Society Concentration is the School's fastest growing, allowing students to pursue all aspects of sports media, including broadcast, digital, public relations and marketing communicators. Beyond the game itself, we seek professionals who can teach and create experiences that deepen understanding of both the sport and the complex industry behind it. The Professor of the Practice will assist in developing experiential opportunities for students, and be a liaison to professional sports media organizations to assist students in earning internships and jobs. The William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications fosters a collegial atmosphere that encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and mutual respect among faculty, staff and students. This full-time, non-tenure track position will start in August 2026. This is an open rank search, and appointment at a particular level will be based on an applicant's professional experience, creative portfolio, and teaching record.
